Pump Truck Technician

Location: Fayette, Coweta, Spalding, Henry, Pike & Meriwether Counties in GA
Reports To: Operations Manager / Owner

Position Overview
​
Hart’s Septic Services is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Pump Truck Technician to join our expanding team. This position is central to our field operations—responsible for safely operating the pump truck, performing septic system services, assisting with repairs and installs, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
​
A minimum Class B CDL is required for this role. The ideal candidate is safety-driven, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working outdoors with both equipment and customers.

Primary Responsibilities
​
Pump Truck Operation & Service Work
​

Safely drive and operate the septic pump truck to and from job sites.

Perform residential and commercial septic tank pump-outs according to company standards.
-
Conduct proper offloading of waste at approved disposal sites and complete required paperwork.

Perform daily DOT-compliant pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Repair & Install Assistance

Assist with septic system repairs such as:
-
Inlet/outlet baffle repairs
-
Main line repairs
-
Tail-out diagnostics
-
Distribution box evaluations
-
-
Assist with drain field installations, replacements, and expansions.
-
Help install risers, lids, adapters, and other access components.
-
Support other repair projects as needed to keep jobs on schedule.
Equipment Operation

Operate heavy equipment (when trained), including:
-
Mini-excavators
-
Skid steers / compact loaders
-
Trenchers
-
Other equipment used during pump-outs and field repairs
-

Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and assist with routine maintenance.
Customer Service & Communication

Greet customers and clearly explain the work being performed.
-
Answer basic questions about their septic system.
-
Collect payments onsite when required.
-
Provide real-time updates to office staff on schedule changes, job findings, or delays.

Maintain a professional, friendly, and respectful demeanor at all customer interactions.
Safety, Compliance & Reporting

Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety protocols.
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and drug-free work environment.
-
Document job notes, repair details, and inspection information in Jobber or paper forms.
-
Report hazards, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions immediately.

Adhere to all environmental handling and disposal regulations.
Truck, Tools & Property Care

Keep truck exterior and cab clean daily.

Maintain hoses, fittings, tools, and all job-related equipment.
-
Restock materials, PPE, and repair supplies as needed.
-
Ensure truck readiness for the next day’s schedule.
Requirements
​
-
Class B CDL (minimum) with a clean driving record.
-
DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one.
-
Reliable transportation to and from company locations and/or job sites.
-
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and maintain drug-free status.
-
Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
-
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn septic system operations.
-
Strong communication and customer service skills.
-
Dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and able to work independently or with a team.
-
Prior experience in septic, plumbing, construction, heavy equipment, or related fields is a plus.
